Oprah on Larry King discusses the law of attraction. I thought it was interesting to hear how she "attracted" the staring part in the Color Purple.
This is hysterical. I was reviewing her recent New Earth video show and accidentally stumbled on this. By the end of this I was screaming with laughter.
So what do you think, is she the anti-christ as one newspaper indicated or is she a leader in a movement of love and non-judgment.
Speech by Dr. John Medina in front of Google. He discussed the brain and explains how 3 times per week of aerobic exercise can reduce your risk for Alzheimer’s by 50%. It is a much bigger lecture than that as he is very interesting, and speaks well. He also covers stress, curiosity, and empowerment as variables of brain function. It still delights me that we can listen to such great content for free on demand. I just discovered Google Talks today. If there was one invention I would most miss today were it withdrawn, it is the internet. Here is a link to all the the videos.
I decided for fun to search out a little more on Paul Potts and found the following information in Wikipedia, of all places. I was surprised to see that he had done several amateur performances and has even sung in front of Pavorroti. When he spoke on Oprah he said that he did not think he had that much talent so just sang for himself. I guess it was better PR to pretend that he sprang out of nowhere. That is show business. Here is the link if you would like to read the history of this man that ended up selling 2 million copies of his album Apparently he had decided to quite his day job as on March 8 of this year, he resigned from his job as a mobile salesperson. Here is the quote from Wikipeida discussing his interview on the Today Show.
During the programme there was some controversy[18]as to the "undiscovered" nature of Potts' talent. He was portrayed on the show as simply a mobile-phone salesman, whereas he had in fact appeared in six amateur opera productions and in a concert for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra[8] and had plans for a summer tour with the Orchestra.[8] Potts responded to his critics saying that he had not claimed to be completely untutored, that he had never performed any concert for pay and was therefore amateur and that the lessons he had received in Italy had been paid for from his own savings.[19] Article on Wikipedia
Don't listen to this video first, I found it after I had already posted the others. This video is an interview of Paul Potts. I like the way he described living in the now. Living in the future would be like only looking out the front window half way down the bus, you miss most of what is going on. I encourage you to go through the various videos below and enjoy the experience of watching a man who kept performing even though he thought he was an amateur and then finally making it. And then after watching them, come back and listen to this interview. YouTube Interview of Paul Potts
I am facing the necessity of making a career change. I have been employed in a career as a parole officer. Due to post traumatic stress, anxiety and a change in the Department's focus from social work to law enforcement, I was unable to continue working in an environment fraught with possible violence, guns, anger, hostility, deceit, and paranoia. I am on leave now and seeing a shrink as I determine what is next. The longer I am away from the Department (almost one month now), the more I begin to wonder what is ahead for me. I know that it is important to walk your talk. By this I mean, I believe that I must live in the now and be who I truly am, the uniqueness of me. If I do this, God and the Universe will supply my needs, and life will happen exactly the way that it should. However, if I am not willing to trust in myself and put my faith into action and, instead, choose to stay riveted to security, I will pay the price. I will feel inauthentic, disconnected, and insecure.
