I won't try to explain how a RSS feed works, as most you probably know more than me. I do like a program that I downloaded from News Gator. It is like a giant browser that downloads subscriptions (RSS feeds) much like Itunes does with Podcasts. Except it downloads more than just podcasts, it downloads website updates as well. You can also set up watches such as "Byron Katie" and then anytime your watch (such as Byron Katie) appears in the internet, it will automatically download part of the article which you can read then click on to read more. It updates very frequently, you set the amount of time. You can arrange the posts into folders.
The following is a great video that shows a human brain and gives insight on how to effectively use your brain to achieve joy. Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: one morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. The following video outlines her discovery.
For many, working at home is appealing, but can become somewhat lonely. A group of New Yorkers formed a sort of Meetup where they meet every couple of weeks and work on their individual projects from one of the member’s home. Other groups have now followed suit. This link following is a short video about this new twist in working from home. Video on Jelly.com I think it will also be interesting to learn more about groups that use web cams, Skype, White board, and other computer applications to work in a team virtually.
What a beautiful picture. This site is from is a planetary nebula, the glowing remains of a sun-like star. The image is from NASA site. NASA
A while back, I downloaded Media Monkey (free of course) from Cnet Download Site (this link takes you right to the media monkey download page.) This is a great program especially if you have a large media library. I am not feeling very creative tonight so I will just share their blurb. However, I will add it can become addictive. I am adding album art, editing genre, rating my favorites, and hours just fly. It can sync with Itunes etc but I never did use it for that. I like being able to change an entire album information at once. It was easy to set up and I have never had any problems with it.
Here is their review. Cnet gave it top marks.
"MediaMonkey is a music manager and jukebox for serious music collectors and iPod users. It catalogs your CDs, OGG, WMA, MPC, FLAC, APE, WAV and MP3 audio files. It offers an intelligent tag editor which looks up missing Album Art and track information via Freedb and the web, and an automated file and directory renamer to organize your music library. It includes a CD ripper, CD/DVD Burner, and audio converter for saving music, and manual or automated playlist editors for creating music mixes. Its player automatically adjusts volume levels so that you don't have continually fiddle with the volume control and supports hundreds of Winamp plug-ins and visualizations; or if you prefer, it can use Winamp as the default player. It also includes portable audio device synchronization that allows you to quickly synch tracks and playlists with iPods, MP3 Phones, and other portable audio devices.
Version 2.5.5 adds support for iTunes phones, improves iPod and MTP device synchronization, improves FLAC support."
Cnet-Download Site Download.com is a great site to get free software. I especially like a utility "Duplicate Cleaner" that searches your hard drive and finds duplicate files. I use it to locate MP3 files that have been automatically labeled differently, but are actually the same song. I had some difficulty when starting and stopping libraries with the result that had the same song stored in several different albums or folders. It also helps in deleting the duplicates quickly by using smart search criteria such as delete the oldest file.
I checked out the the site Gaia.com that was recommended previously by Andriana from the New Things Group. I am watching a video from it now called Joe's Journey. I embeded the video for you to see. I like the site very much. It seems like a great way to meet spiritual people who are trying to live their life and make a difference. I didn't get far with the site as I began to watch the video. Joe had a brain injury and was in a comma for 6 weeks or so. This is a story of his recovery.
